Where are you reppin?

What is your hustle?

Spoken Word Artist, Designer, and Creative Director of Monkey Face Apparel, www.MonkeyFaceApparel.com (which will re-launch this summer).

You’ve made quite the transformation with your physique! What is your routine looking like?

Thank you, I really feel like I’ve come a long way.

My Daily routine consists of:

  • 8 Minutes Abs workout
  • A few sets of Perfect Push-ups
  • Dumbbell curls
  • Bench press
  • Lunges

…And 4 miles on the treadmill or in the park when the weather is nice.

What peaked your interest in fitness? Why is it so important to you?

About a year and a half ago I was standing in the mirror for longer than usual and I was just picking myself apart. I wasn’t happy with the skinny, no form frame I was sporting… and besides that, diabetes and high blood pressure issues have plagued my family.

I felt compelled to make a difference and be an inspiration to those close to me.

How Has your fitness lifestyle affected and/or influenced your fashion?

Well I’ve always had a foot in fashion but I must say, the further I got in achieving my personal fitness goals, the more confidence it instilled in me. That confidence pushed me to take on more projects and to believe more in myself.

Who do you think has the best physiques in the game right now (athletes, entertainers, personalities, friends, whoever)?

As far as females, Serena Williams physique is on point. Not particularly my type of girl, but you can tell she’s dedicated and her determination is paying off.

Whose fitness look/lifestyle inspires you?

Believe it or not, I’m mostly inspired by the contestants on shows like The Biggest Loser and MTV’s ‘I Used To be Fat.’ The drive and will that the people on those shows possess always ignites my fire.

What do you feel is your best feature on your physique and why.
I would have to say my abdominal region. I feel like it shapes my physique and is the most well rounded area overall.

What is your favorite body part/workout to do (ie. legs, abs, chest or cardio, interval training)

8 Minute Abs Workout Program

What music/artists gets you hype when working out? What track is on heavy rotation in your playlist in the gym?

This question makes me laugh because for some reason I push myself more when I’m calm. My gym playlist consists of The Best of Sade, Adele and Nina Simone.
Favorite cheat food?
French Fries
Favorite healthy food/meal
Soy Chicken

Carnivore/Vegetarian/Vegan?
Vegetarian for the last 7 yrs. I would be a Vegan, but I still eat cheese.

What are you working on next?

I’m currently working on building ‘Ron Bass’ as a brand. With the success and buzz that has generated from the custom “Artist Inspired” Jackets I’ve made, I have a few collaborations with some clothing brands and independent boutiques in the months to come.  Also, I teamed up with a young, promising music producer, Chris Gee of Grand Music, to bring my Spoken word pieces to original and remixed beats. The Mixtape is called ‘The Audio Book… Volume 49 of 52‘ To be released by June.

As far as physical conditioning, I’m working on getting my physique to the point where I can book a swim or underwear ad for a major company. Just a one time shoot to experience that feeling of personal accomplishment.

Words of Wisdom for the people?

“You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink. You can give a man some wisdom but you can’t make him think.” Anything you do has to be driven by you in order to get to the destination in sight.

Hip Hop Hard Body quote that represents your mentality in life and or in the gym:

Cuz look what a accident did to Left Eye/

First Aaliyah and now romeo must die/

I know I got angels watching me from the other side” -Kanye West
